Heya Randy -

Sudan? Lucky so-and-so!! Have a great time there- it is supposed to be some really good diving.

Be safe on your mission and look forward to having you back (and I have a nice bottle of Scotch that I am saving up, as well).

Cheers,
Vinnie

The biggest factor is always the instructor - a good instructor will make you a good diver, regardless of the agency and a bad instructor will be a bad instructor regardless of what agency s/he teaches.

There are differences between the agencies for sure - but think of them as different roads to get to the same destination. Once you have around 20-odd dives, it doesn't really matter how you got there anymore, although some roads might be marginally faster, marginally more scenic or whatever.

My last dive in Havelock was supposed to be V16. But due to strong currents we did not go. I do hope that the next time I come, I can check this one out and try muck diving (oh yeah, I am definitely returning). Had a great time, thanks to all of you.

Hey.....

I'm a divemaster w/ 20 yrs diving experience, and thinking of diving the Andamans for two months, July and August .

What is/how much is the cheapest hut, food, you can recommend ( a grass hut with nightime electricity, squat toilet was fine in Sulawesi!), and how good is the shore diving?

To my friends at Dive India:

Congratulations on your new affiliation with NAUI. Having been a NAUI Instructor Trainer, and like Dive India, affiliated with other agencies, I know a bit about different programs. NAUI has weathered the ages to become one of world's most venerable agencies. I know you and your students will be very pleased to expand your training opportunities to contain the NAUI course catalog.

Best of luck with your new program,

John Flanders
