Camping and Diving Safaris to the North Andamans

The following is a Standard Camping+Diving Itinerary to the North.

At present, we do NOT run trips to turtle nesting sites as we do not want to encourage this activitiy. Turtles are already endangered enough, without additional human presence and pressures on them. As and when this can be done in an environmentally sustainable manner, then we will be among the first to offer these trips. Until then, we would also request that you too join us in letting the turtles nest in peace.

We can also do longer or slightly different itineraries, and also combine diving with other activities, like crocodile-watching, whale-watching [season dependent], birding and so on. We can run Mayabunder trips only for groups of 8 or more booking at the same time. Long Island trips are scheduled departures and anyone can sign up for them, although we will need 6 people total to run the trip. We can also run Long Island trips at any time for groups of 6 or more booking together.

We can do custom itineraries, provided the group size requirements are met.

Long Island scuba diving safari: trip itinerary (4 days/8 dives, Monday departure)

Day 1: After breakfast in Havelock, head out by boat to Long Island, stopping off for a dive en route. On arrival, have lunch and relax in the evening.

Day 2: Wake up and head out at 7:30am for a 2-tank dive. Return for a late lunch and some rest, and then a night dive.

Day 3: As yesterday, wake up and head out at 7:30am for a 2-tank dive. Return for a late lunch and some rest, and then a night dive. Depending on conditions, we may end up doing an afternoon dive or even a 3-tank trip.

Day 4: Wake up and check out of the hotel. Start heading back to Havelock, stopping en route for a dive. Arrive back in Havelock for lunch

Note - as we find more and more dive sites, the itinerary might change. Our goal is to get you the best diving possible during these 4 days - so you can rest assured that any change we make will be for the better.

Mayabunder scuba diving safari: trip itinerary (5 days/9 dives):

Day 1: Breakfast, then check out of resort in Havelock and transfer to the jetty, in order to catch the 10:00am ferry to Rangat. Arrive in Rangat by afternoon, stop for lunch and then transfer by jeep to Diveindia's private beach-side camps ground. By the team you arrive, our team will have set up your tents. Relax and get an early's night's sleep.

Day 2: Wake up around sunrise, have a quick breakfast of tea, toast and eggs, and then head off for a 2-tank dive. Return by mid-day, have lunch and a brief siesta, and then on for the afternoon dive. Back by evening to find hot tea for drinking, and fresh water for bathing. After showering and changing, it is bonfire time. Unwind to your favorite tunes or persuade our dive shop staff to break out their guitars and have a jam session. And then off to bed, serenaded by the sea.

Day 3: As before, wake up around sun-rise. After breakfast, a short jeep ride takes you to the embarkation point where the boat will be waiting for you. Today, we will dive the west coast of the Andamans, where steeper dropoffs and big fish await. A 3-tank trip, with food served on board. Back by late afternoon. As before, shower, catch the sunset and then unwind at night.

Day 4: Wake up around sunrise, have a quick breakfast of tea, toast and eggs, and then head off for a 2-tank dive. Return by mid-day, have lunch and a brief siesta, and then on for the afternoon dive. Alternatively, spend the afternoon exploring the jungles in the area, seeking out some of region's endemic birds. For dinner, tonight we will go to a small, family-run restaurant serving delicious home-cooked meals.

Day 5: Depending on whether the trip is returning to Havelock or Port Blair, we will depart at the appropriate time on order to catch the ferry to Havelock or bus to Port Blair.

As this itinerary is only open to group bookings, we can customize this as per your needs, and also run this at any time. Again, please note that the actual diving plan may vary, depending on conditions. As before, our commitment is to get you the best diving possible - and you can rest assured that any change we make will be either to improve safety or the quality of your diving experience.
