Go Pro – Asst Instructor

Divemaster Training

Divemaster is the first professional level – as a Divemaster, a dive professional is qualified to supervise certified divers in their scuba diving activities, and can help Instructors and Assistant Instructors with their teaching, as a certified assistant. We offer Divemaster certification with either PADI or SSI – whichever one you prefer.

Requirements for DM

In order to become a Divemaster, the candidate needs to meet the following requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 60 logged dives
  • Complete the Divemaster course with a qualified instructor
  • Have a current, valid medical clearance
  • Apply and pay for membership with the appropriate training agency

Pre-requisites to start the DM program

In order to officially enrol in a Divemaster program, the candidate needs to have the following pre-requisites:

  • 40 logged dives
  • Certified as an Advanced diver with any recognised agency
  • Certified as a Rescue diver with any recognised agency
  • Have a valid CPR/First aid certificate from within 2 years

Two paths to DM

We offer 2 paths to Divemaster:

The first is the bare-bones Divemaster course. As the name implies, this consists of the Divemaster training program only – no additional dives are included in the program. At minimum, the candidate will meet the entry requirement described above – and if they are short on dives, they can complete the rest at a discounted price. However, we really do not recommend this as an option for anyone except people with a lot of diving experience coupled with teaching/supervisory experience in other fields. The reason is that unlike the skills you have learned earlier which tend to be binary (either you know them or you dont), most of the skills in the Divemaster program are soft skills which only get better with experience: things like experience, judgement, problem solving, professionalism. So there is a lot of value in spending more time on the DM course, rather than less.

And that is where the second option comes in – our Go Pro internship. This takes approximately 30 dayS (give or take) and includes the Divemaster course as well as a minimum of 40 logged dives. During this time, you will be working in the dive center as an intern, helping the dive professionals with their day-to-day tasks. So not only is this a fully immersive experience, it also gives you a good taste of what a working scuba professional’s life is like. During this program, we will go well beyond the bare minimum requirements mandated by the agencies, and really work on making you ready to hit the ground running as a pro. We recommend this option to almost everyone who wants to become a pro, regardless of prior dive experience.

Prices

The price for the bare-bones Divemaster course is Rs 30,000 + 14% tax.
The price for the Go Pro internship is Rs 60,000 + 7% tax.

Not included in this are the cost of mandatory materials and registration/membership with the agency (approx Rs 20,000-25,000) – please contact us for up-to-date pricing on this.
