BECAUSE ONE TANK ISN'T ENOUGH
For some, it’s the upgrade in gear configuration. For others, it’s about the flex & the trim. For all, it’s about the control that changes how you dive.
BECAUSE ONE TANK ISN'T ENOUGH
For some, it’s the upgrade in gear configuration. For others, it’s about the flex & the trim. For all, it’s about the control that changes how you dive.
A Different Way to Dive
In the beginning, diving is about getting comfortable underwater – enhancing your skills, getting familiar with the equipment, and following a tried & tested system. Then there’s a shift, where you start questioning the limits of your gear and what it allows you to do.
The SSI Sidemount Diving Specialty introduces you to harness configuration, trim, buoyancy, managing gas across two cylinders & handling common problems without disrupting the dive. Starting with confined sessions in shallow waters, you’ll train with a whole new setup & apply it across four open water dives, where your focus shifts to control and adaptability.
You’ll take a few dives to settle in. Some changes are obvious, others take time. By the end though, you aren’t just diving differently, but you are starting to understand the why.

A Different Way to Dive
How is this course different from XR Sidemount Diving?
- Well, it’s not as much about a difference as it is about an upgrade.
- Recreational sidemount is a bridge to Extended Range diving, but it is limited to recreational depth limits of 40 metres.
- The XR version takes you to the technical side with more tanks, different gas mixes, and deeper depths.
How much time do I spend on this per day?
- Plan to spend the first half of the day with us & the Ocean
- There will be debriefing / theory sessions as well. Scheduled per mutual convenience of the student & the Instructor.
What is the Student-to-Instructor ratio for the course?
- 4:1. 4 students. 1 instructor.
- That means more attention, fewer flailing fins, and plenty of time for feedback where it matters most.
- But that doesn’t mean we won’t do the course with fewer students. We do. There is always a batch finning!
Where do I access my course material?
- On the SSI App – your forever dive buddy. Available on Android & iOS. Phones & tablets. Or even a good ol’ browser.
- Theory, logs, certifications cards…this is your diver flex app, essentially!
