Go Pro – Asst Instructor
SSI Assistant Instructor / Dive Control Specialist Training
Dive Control Specialist is the next professional level after Divemaster. The Dive Control Specialist is an assistant instructor ranking. As that implies, a SSI DiveCon can help an instructor during a training course, and can also teach parts of the Academic and Confined Water course independently.
Usually, most dive professionals jump directly from DM to Instructor – however, this direct jump does not always prepare a professional to conduct Open Water courses right away. With a DiveCon rating, you can ease into teaching and slowly learn effective ways to teach both theory and waterskills under the guidance of an instructor – this makes you a better instructor when you do go take that course. We strongly feel that there is value in taking a graded approach and really earning that instructor rating, as opposed to rushing there and getting it as quickly as possible.
Requirements for DiveCon
A candidate can directly enrol in this program after the DM course

- Have a current, valid medical clearance
- Have a valid CPR/First Aid certificate within the last 2 years
Pre-requisites to start the DiveCon program
A candidate can enroll for the DiveCon course directly after completing the Divemaster program – there are no additional pre-requisites.
The Dive Control Specialist / Assistant Instructor course
The Dive Control Specialist program focuses on teaching the candidate how to teach dive theory and confined water, and so is a good mix of academics and in-water training. In addition, the course also covers effective supervision, control and problem management, both in confined water and in open water. The basic program itself takes 3-4 days – however, with candidates who do not have a lot of working experience as a Divemaster, we suggest that they take longer with the program, and consider a longer internship with us. As with all professional training, the more time you spend on the training, the better you get.
The price for the Dive Control Specialist course is Rs 20,000 + 14% tax.
For internship options, please contact us to discuss options and availability.
Not included in this are the cost of mandatory materials and registration/membership with the agency (approx Rs 15,000) – please contact us for up-to-date pricing on this.
