DIVING FOR BEGINNERS:
TRY DIVING Intro to Scuba

If you want to experience the magic of the underwater world, try one of our Intro To Scuba program.

Are you interested in trying diving but do not have the time or desire to take a certification course? Or maybe you are not sure if this whole diving this is for you? Consider the Intro to Scuba/Try Diving experience.

This is a half-day program, where an instructor briefs you on some basic theory and then takes you out into the ocean for a short skills practice session, followed by a proper dive on a reef, to give you a taste of diving and a chance to experience in the underwater world. It’s safe, it’s easy and it’s a lot of fun!

There are two variants of this program, all of which follow the same approximate guideline:

  • The SSI Basic Diver program– boat option:  this is an approximately 2.5-3 hour session, where we take you by boat to a secluded reef, away from the crowds, and conduct this program one-on-one, in order to let you get the most thorough scuba experience possible.     We try for a minimum of 60′ of water time, although that will depend a little on your air consumption.
  • The SSI Basic Diver program– shore option:  this is the same option as above, but conducted off the shore.   While the in-water time remains the same, the overall program takes less time (approx 1.5-2 hours) due to reduced travel logistics.

The entire program  includes underwater photos and videos. We provide all the equipment – all you need to bring is a towel, swim wear and a memory card/USB drive for taking the photos.

Swimming is not a pre-requisite for this program.   All you need to do is be in good health, with no pre-existing medical conditions, and have basic-to-moderate fitness.

And if you like the experience – and we are very certain you will! – you can go on to do a certification course (if you have done a Basic Diver program, that dive even counts towards the Open Water Diver course). Certification courses completely revolutionise the dive experience – not only do you truly start to experience what it is like to be truly weightless and flying, you are able to go deeper and see a lot more exotic marine life:   it is comparable to the difference between seeing animals in a zoo vs on a safari.    But this is a start.

Also, do note – our Basic Diver programs are fully agency sanctioned and conducted as per international standards (actually exceeding it). It is not to be confused with the Try Dive program offered by tour operators, which consists of 10 minutes of being dragged from point A to point B, having a few photos taken, and then dragged back.  We focus on teaching you the basic skills of diving, taking you for a long, relaxed dive and also explaining the underwater ecosystem to you, so you get a far richer and more immersive (no pun intended) program.
