Best Scuba Diving in Neil Island

Based out of the Dancing Dugong Resort, our Neil dive center offers a full array of scuba certification courses, ranging from Open Water Diver all the way to Stress & Rescue and Specialty training, as well as daily dive trips for certified divers.

Why Neil?
Well, as Havelock continues to grow, we feel that the best way for divers to experience the magic of the Andamans is at a quieter, more laid back location far away from the package tourist crowds – that way, we can continue offering the type of diving experience that has been our hallmark since the day we started diving in the Andamans (when 4 divers was a busy day): small groups, pristine reefs, expert dive guides and best of all – no crowds on the reef.

Neil will offer exactly that – a throwback to what diving was like in the Andamans back when it was just us, a couple of local island-style boats and a large unexplored ocean. Neil Island is also close to Port Blair and connected by daily ferries to both Havelock and Port Blair. In addition, having already dived some of the waters around it, we are very excited about the potential of the waters around this region, and we feel it will offer the same world-quality dive sites that make the diving in Havelock so amazing.

At present, we strongly recommend certified divers base themselves out of Neil – we can access all the top sites of Havelock like Johnny’s Gorge, Dixon’s Pinnacle, etc from Neil, and also have additional high-action sites which are not accessible from Havelock.

As of now, there is a morning ferry to Neil and it leaves early in the morning (0630-0700), returning from Neil at 0900. There is also a second 1130 departure that goes to Neil and then onwards to Havelock

On the way back, you have to spend your last night in Port Blair – in theory, if you have a 1220 departure out of Port Blair, the morning ferry from Neil will get you back in time, but this is cutting it quite fine and we recommend leaving a day earlier. There is no catamaran service to Neil.

Tickets for the 11:30 ferry are actually harder to get – so we do recommend (and strongly suggest that you avail of) a Meet and Greet facility which includes airport pickup, transfer to the jetty (including round trip ferry tickets), transfers in Havelock, return transfer to the hotel in Port Blair and then to the airport on your departure. Price for this is Rs 2,500 for one person, Rs 3,000 for 2 people and Rs 1,200 per person for 3 or more people – in addition, if you want the catamaran, a surcharge of Rs 600 per person each way also applies. Please let us know in advance, preferably at the time of your booking, if you would like us to arrange the same for you.
