It is only when you buy your own BCD and are able to dial in your trim so it is just right, that you realize what you have been missing out on while diving with rental BCDs.

To be clear, rental BCDs are perfectly fine for diving – they do the job. But owning your own BCD will bring with it features like weight integration, more anatomical straps and more importantly, consistency: consistency in where your octopus is location, consistency in how much air is added/released when you use the inflators or deflators and consistency in how much weight you need and where to put it. This improves your comfort and your buoyancy, and that, in turn, leads to more comfortable and enjoyable dives.
